One such one, is the Hungry Baker. It has been opened a while but as it is not on the Westfields/Church Street Mall side of the CBD and therefore it was out of sight, out of mind for us.
Not any more.
Today we ventured across the station to the Deloitte's building (cnr Station Street East and Hassall Street), where the Hungry Baker is located on the ground floor. A very industrial looking space, with indoor and outdoor seating; and a large communal table in the centre.
I chose a sandwich from their pre-made section - pulled pork ($10.90).
It was delicious - to quote a colleague "best sandwich ever"
Two from the group sampled the Salt n Pepper squid from the specials menu. They were both served on bread boards - but very differently so that one looked like a larger serve than the other.
Being lent, fish was on the mind of a few and the barramundi with salad and chips fit the bill. All this for $14
And of course a burger and chips. (excuse the crappy shot - bad lighting on this one).
All in all, everyone loved their meals and there are already plans for a return - maybe a breakfast trip as they are open from 6am.
Unfortunately, they appear to only be open Mondays to Fridays, so those locals hoping for another place to add to the list for weekend brunches are out of luck.
You can find the Hungry Baker in the ground floor of the Deloitte Building at 60 Station Street East Parramatta.
If only they were open weekends. It's slim pickings out here on weekends sadly.
ReplyDeleteDaaamn, THAT SANDWICH! What a scrumptious-looking eat! I know where I'll be stopping if I find myself in Parramatta :D
