Must Haves for Summer....

As regular readers would be aware, I'm not averse to a little bit of online shopping. But I need to consider before purchasing as I like my wardrobe to do double duty. Something that tows that semi-corporate line during the 9-5 grind, but that can back up for a day out with friends or for drinks at night.

And with Summer well and truly on its way (although in Sydney it feels like it is already here), here are a few plus size fashion items that meet my brief.
17 Sundays Paisley Print Chambray Shirt Dress * Autograph Printed Bandage Dress * Harlow Digital Love Dress
Autograph Paisley Print Dress  *17 Sundays Shirred Waist Dress * Autograph Zig Zag Tunic
The perfect double duty item is the dress - dress it up with heels and a blazer to meet the day and any clients/customers that require that special treatment. Or chuck on some flats and maybe a denim jacket (if there is a breeze about) with some some vintage beads for a day out with some mates.
  • I love a simple tunic as it is so versatile for day and night due to its simplicity. It is perfect for those summer days in the office when the place is empty with people on holidays; and the air-conditioning is struggling to keep with the outside temperature. It is also perfect to just throw on when last minute invites come your way. I do note that the Zig Zag tunic I have chosen will require something underneath it as it is a coverall for swimmers but I loved the print; and would totally wear it to work with a black slip under it.
  • The bandage dress and the chambray shirt dress are for the more corporate days in the office and maybe the less relaxed after work or weekend events. But at the same time they can easily be dressed down if needed.
Autograph Lace Maxi Skirt * 17 Sundays Purple Haze High Waisted Skirt * Autograph Flippy Skirt
Skirts are another dress them up, dress them down item. With skirts and pants, it comes down to the top and accessories as to how corporate or casual the outfit will be.
  • maxi skirts are perfect in the summer - offering a cool alternative to pants for those that don't want to get their pins out.
  • I am such a fan of high waisted skirts - they are amazing. They can look so corporate and then so casual with a quick change of a pair of shoes or top.
  • this flippy skirt is the ultimate in double duty skirts - this is definitely on my "to buy" list

Autograph Monochrome Tuck Front Pant * 17 Sundays Solid Slouch Pants * Autograph Soft Paisley Pants
  • Summer is not always days over 35, sunny with not a cloud in the sky and this is where soft, light pants come in.
  • Monochrome pants are another favourite of mine - classic that can pretty much go with everything.
  • Printed pants have been in for a little while and seem to be sticking around. I love these soft paisley ones.
  • But for those afraid of pattern, there are still some soft, light solid pants out there.
So there you have it - my picks for a summer wardrobe that allows you maintain that corporate image during the week, at the same time as giving you options for weekend outfits.
